The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, located in the capital city of Kansas, is seeking applications for a dynamic, energetic, and capable Chief Financial Officer.

The CFO plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the library's financial operations, prepares and enforces the budget, ensures regulations and procedures are followed, and maintains appropriate records and files.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of general laws and administrative policies governing financial practices and procedures, comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and budgeting for governmental districts; ability to evaluate financial systems and efficiently formulate and install accounting methods, procedures, forms and records; ability to prepare informative financial reports; ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of subordinate employees; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, government officials, and the general public. This position requires a bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field and six or more years experience working with governmental accounting and one to three years of supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Kansas driver's license with an insurable driving record is required.

About the Library: The Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library welcomes over 3,000 visitors daily, and as of June 2010 serves 95,801 registered borrowers. The library meets the literacy and learning needs of the community with free access to books, journals, research materials, online information and computers. Beginning Compensation: will range from $75,294 to $94,118 per year depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits, including BCBS health/dental, KPERS retirement plan, deferred compensation and cafeteria plan, with 22 days vacation and 12 days sick leave per year.

Director of Financial Services
City of Hutchinson, Kansas

This executive-level position is responsible for the overall direction and administration of City's Finance Department, which includes production of the annual budget (operating, CIP, etc.), investments, financial transaction processing, recordkeeping and reporting, utility billing and central purchasing functions. This position will also be responsible for the development of the City's accounting systems, procedures and financial controls to improve serve delivery; monitoring and forecasting of revenue and expenses to identify issues and trends; and developing short and long-term finance strategies which conform generally accepted governmental finance, accounting and auditing principles and practices.

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration from an accredited college or university (CPA strongly preferred); 7 + years of senior level experience in the areas of public-sector accounting, auditing, budget development, municipal financing (including bonds, special districts, lease/purchases and public-private partnerships), fiscal policy development, and cash management; 5+ years of supervisory experience in a similar environment; and a high level of proficiency with MS Excel and financial/accounting software packages. Annualized Pay Range: $64,480 - $97,110.
